IIF Transaction Creator for QuickBooks

Import transactions from Excel to QuickBooks.

Use the IIF Transaction Creator to import transactions from Excel to QuickBooks. This add-in supports most transaction types, including checks, bills, invoices, sales receipts, and deposits. It uses data on an Excel worksheet to create an IIF file that is customized for your QuickBooks company for easy and reliable import.

To use the IIF Creator, arrange your data in simple row/column layouts on a spreadsheet. Several layout options are supported.

System Requirements

The IIF Creator works with Excel 97 - 2010 for Windows and Excel 2004 or 2011 for the Mac.

The IIF files created by the IIF Transaction Creator can be imported into QuickBooks for Windows 99 – 2012, all QuickBooks Enterprise versions, & QuickBooks Mac 2004 – 2012. U.S., Canadian, Australian, and UK versions of QuickBooks are supported. Some features work only with QuickBooks version years 2007 or higher and Enterprise 7.0 or higher.

You can use the IIF Creator in trial mode to export up to 100 transactions (up to 15 at a time.) Once purchased, the IIF Creator doesn’t have an export limit, and so you can export hundreds or even thousands of transactions at a time.

The IIF Transaction Creator is very useful on its own, and includes examples and documentation which are available from it’s menu. In addition, our template workbooks can give you ideas of different ways to use the IIF Transaction Creator. The templates include an expense report, invoice, journal entry template, a depreciation calculator, and a loan payment calculator. Because they’re specialized Excel workbooks, each of them can be customized for your needs.

Integrate the IIF Creator with your QuickBooks file by pulling your lists (like your Chart of Accounts, Names, and sales Items.)  Once integrated, the IIF Creator can create a custom IIF file designed just for your company.  When using recent US versions of QuickBooks, you can integrate your lists with a couple of button clicks:

Once the IIF file is created you’re ready to import it into QuickBooks. The file name is pasted to the Windows clipboard (Windows only) and can then be pasted directly into the IIF file import dialog in QuickBooks.
